AJ Cole awarded 2nd Annual Chuck & Betsy Clausen Scholarship

The Rotary Club of South Hall was on hand at the 2019 Lanier Career Academy Award Banquet to present this year’s Chuck and Betsy Clausen Scholarship.  This scholarship goes to a student that shows true leadership and character amongst their peers.

This year’s recipient is Senior AJ Cole. He serves as a leader at Lanier Career Academy with the student body.  During the past year, AJ was selected as the prom king by his peers.

AJ has also excelled as a welding dual enrollment student at Lanier Tech with plans to use his technical skill set in the military in the future.  AJ has also been involved with Fellowship of Christian Students this year.

However, what makes AJ the most deserving of this recognition is his distinguished character. The staff and teachers at LCCA describe AJ as someone who “is always willing to jump in, lend a hand, and works with a smile.” His teachers consider him a model student and one of the best students to attend LCCA.

“We named this award in honor of club member Betsy Clausen and her husband who always stayed involved and engage with students in our community. It was a privilege for me to be able to be here in her honor to meet Mr. Cole” stated Club Treasurer Bill Patterson.

This is the second year the South Hall Rotary has presented this scholarship to a deserving student at LCCA. As the only scholarship given to an LCCA student each year, South Hall Rotary is honored to be able bless the best and brightest from the academy.

“Often these students get overlooked among all the wonderful schools we have in Hall County.  Since we meet at this facility each week, we recognize the talent and brilliance of the LCCA kids” stated Club President Renee Carden. The South Hall Rotary meets on Wednesdays at The Oaks at Lanier Career Academy. More information about the club meetings can be found at shrotary.org.
