Flowery Branch, Georgia

February 8, 2024 – South Hall Rotary is pleased to announce its upcoming Flag Retirement Ceremony, scheduled for Monday, February 19th, at 6:30 PM. This solemn event will take place at the Flowery Branch Amphitheater, located at 5603 Mitchell St. Flowery Branch, GA 30542, and we extend a warm invitation to members of the media and the local community to join us in honoring our nation’s flag.

The Flag Retirement Ceremony is a time-honored tradition that pays tribute to the United States flag and its significance as a symbol of freedom, unity, and democracy. As part of this ceremony, worn, torn, or tattered flags will be respectfully retired following proper flag etiquette. The retiring of the flag is a symbolic gesture of respect for the sacrifices made by those who have served our country and defended the principles for which it stands.

This event holds special importance for South Hall Rotary as we reaffirm our commitment to community service and patriotism. We invite members of the media to capture and share this meaningful occasion with the wider community, highlighting the importance of honoring our national symbol with dignity and respect.

Attendees can expect a dignified and reverent ceremony, including a formal ceremony conducted by the Boy Scout Troup 228 which will end the ceremonial retirement of the flags. If you have never attended a Flag Ceremony, this event will allow fellowship and reflection.

We encourage all community members to join us in this poignant event, as we come together to honor our nation’s flag and the values it represents. Whether you are a veteran, a community leader, a concerned citizen, or want to learn more about this tradition, your presence at the Flag Retirement Ceremony is deeply appreciated.
