For the last 68 years, the Junior League of Hall County has hosted its annual Charity Ball to raise funds for internal causes supporting women and children or for their signature grant given every five years to outside organizations. The Charity Ball, established in 1951, is the organization’s largest fundraising event of the year. Candidates for the ball our hosted by local civic clubs such as South Hall Rotary each year in order to be given the opportunity to be chaired Belle of the Ball.
These Belle candidates are given a chance to do community service by encouraging them to raise funds that will be given back to our community. The funds the Belle candidates raise have reached in the hundreds of thousands in past years and have exceeded the $100,000 mark in the last few years.
South Hall Rotary has been fortunate enough to have the chance to sponsor these young women in the last few years. We were represented this year by a phenomenal young woman named Emma Delong. Emma is the daughter of Matt and Lori DeLong. She is a junior at North Hall high school. Emma displays her strong work ethic through her work with our charities and as an employee of the Southern Baked Pie Company. Emma is active in school, in church, and in her community. She attends Lakewood Baptist Church with her family. In addition, she volunteered this summer at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Emma also enjoys spending time with her friends, horseback riding, and babysitting. After graduation, she plans to attend college and major in marketing. Emma is honored to be a part of the charity ball this year as a belle candidate.
Emma was well represented at this year’s Charity Ball event and was escorted by Rotary Club President Rena Pendley during the coronation ceremony. Emma was not crowned Belle of this year’s Ball but was a part of raising over $130,000 in funds with her fellow candidates to serve the Northeast Georgia Community.
We want to thank Emma for being such a great representative for our club and wish her success in the coming year.
