June 30, 2020 – The South Hall Rotary Club was honored to receive several awards at the Rotary District 6910 Annual Conference.
This year’s conference was conducted in a virtual experience this year due to being postponed by the outbreak of COVID-19 during April. However, that didn’t stop the District from recognizing the efforts of Rotarians for community service efforts throughout the entire year.
The South Hall Rotary club was one of the groups who were honored to hear their name called for several different efforts this past year. The Public Image Committee was recognized as both a District 6910 Public Image recipient and a Zone 33/34 Public Image Award Winner.
Club President Rena Pendley led the club to being recognized as a Gold level club recipient for achieving the highest level of goals for the 2019-2020 Rotary Year. However, the biggest surprise of the weekend was the club’s recognition as Small Club of the Year Runner Up.
Club President- Elect Amanda Groover stated that “our club may be smaller in size than some of the other clubs in our district but our hearts and devotion to service out measure our club’s size on a regular basis.”
Typically, the club would complete the year by also recognizing their own Rotarian of the Year and conducting a “passing of the gavel” ceremony by the end of June. However, this year that will take place at the weekly club meeting on July 8th with an end of the year party being held at the end of the summer.
The South Hall Rotary Club meets weekly for lunch but has recently been rotating our meetings have and offering a virtual zoom environment for those who need to socially distance. They welcome anyone who is interested in joining Rotary or seeing what Rotary is all about to join them at no charge on Wednesday’s at noon. Check the calendar for the most up to the date information.
