South Hall Rotary celebrated World Polio Day by kicking off the Run, Run Reindeer Challenge – our first virtual fitness event – to raise funds for Polio Plus and to deliver presents to kids this Christmas.
The event encourages participants to walk, run, or even crawl their way to personal mileage goals that they set for themselves to complete by Christmas Eve. The overall goal is to travel the distance of the globe to help Santa deliver polio vaccines and extra presents this Christmas. The challenge is perfect to encourage health and wellness during a time of year where we all tend to throw healthy eating out the window!
Club President Amanda Groover went live on Facebook during World Polio Day as she started her own journey to making her 150 mile goal for the campaign. She encouraged participants to get out there and enjoy the challenge.
“This is a great initiative for businesses, clubs, and individuals to push themselves to stay healthy during the holidays while supporting several worthy causes” stated Groover.
The club will be donating proceeds to the Rotary Polio Plus Foundation, Secret Santa Car Show Initiative to benefit students at Oakwood Elementary, and to the Chicopee Woods Elementary Christmas initiative.
Participants can sign up through November 15th to receive a long-sleeve Tshirt and finishers medal. Those who sign up by the end of the month will receive a shirt if they are available. Learn more at https://runsignup.com/runrunrudolphchallenge.
